For Unto Us a Child is Born: A Medieval Christmas Concert
From the 11th to the 14th centuries, the most innovative forms of musical composition were developed in the great schools and monasteries of Europe, most notably in Paris and Aquitania. Much of this music was composed to celebrate the Virgin Mary and the birth of Jesus. "A Child is born to us" is a vocal performance with accompanying period instruments that highlights the medieval liturgy for the feasts of the Annunciation, Advent, Christmas and Epiphany.
